Productivity Places Program (PPP)

Under the Skilling Australia for the Future initiative, the Australian Government
provides funding for the Productivity Places Program (PPP). The state and territory
governments have progressively assumed delivery of mainstream job seeker and
existing worker PPP training places through 2009. This is in accordance with the
Council of Australian Governments' negotiated National Partnership (NP)
Agreement for PPP, which was signed by seven state and territory governments.
The Victorian Government has signed a separate agreement. These training places
are being delivered in an industry-driven system, ensuring that training is more
responsive to the needs of businesses and participants.

MEGT Institute has successfully gained contracts for PPP training in numerous States. For specific details of what programs are available in your State, please contact your local MEGT Institute office or submit a request for information through the MEGT Institute enquiry.

Skills for Growth - Victoria

About the Program

The Skills for Growth Program is a Victorian Government Initiative that provides businesses with the choice of an independent specialist to review staff skills, plan for business future and identify training opportunities for employees.

What are the benefits?

By taking part in the Program your business will:

• identify its strategic priorities and direction
• assess the current workforce skill and training needs of your employees
• provide a clear and tailored training plan for your staff
• place employees in training (which may be subsidised by the Government).

How does it work?

The program works as follows:

if you meet the eligibility criteria, you will need to submit an online registration form.

• Once registered you will be assigned a Specialist who will contact you to arrange an onsite visit
• the Specialist will identify the strategic direction of your organisation and assess the training and skill
   needs for your employees.
• The Specialist will complete a Workforce Training Plan and Action Plan to identify business and individual
skill needs. Training solutions are documented including referrals to relevant training programs and
   learning opportunities.
• Service Providers and Specialists will facilitate the placement of staff into accredited training.

    Eligibility

You will need to meet the following criteria in order to be eligible:

    • • employ between one and 199 employees
      • Victorian-based business
      • in operation for at least 12 months
      • financially viable (a business that has an effective trading history and one that
anticipates being able to meet its debts as and when they fall due).

    Cost

Your business can take part in the Program at no cost.

The cost of the accredited training will be the responsibility of the business; however in some cases your staff may be eligible for the Victorian Training Guarantee which entitles Victorians to a subsidised place in a recognised vocational training course.

Eligibility for the subsidised training is determined by factors such as age, prior educational history, citizenship and residency status.
