MEGT Institute Student of the Year 2010 – Eveline Overink

Eveline commenced the Diploma of Management as an International Student at our Campus in Sydney in November 2009 and completed in August 2010.

Eveline has been described as a ‘model’ student, not only in respect to the high grades she achieved but also for putting in the extra effort required to undertake an Australian qualification with English as a second language.  I’m sure most of you are aware of the challenge involved with any new learning, but Eveline also had to try and translate our colourful “aussie slang”!

Eveline not only applied herself to her studies, she also contributed her own time as a Member of the MEGT Student Council, organising events such as the Harmony Day for students @ Sydney Institute, “Gold Week” which raised money for Sydney Children’s Hospital, a Blue Mountains trip for international students, and the City to Surf breakfast and run.

Eveline also engaged in other interests outside of MEGT, such as volunteering her time to the Labour Party in the lead up to the Election to learn more about Australian politics and its system.

Eveline also has some special guests at the graduation cermony in Melbourne on the 9th November, her parents have travelled from the Netherlands to visit her and made a special side trip to Melbourne to support her nomination.

Congratulations to Eveline from all us from the MEGT Institute and to other 2 finalist, Martin Leeson from Tasmania and Emma Crawley from New South Wales.
