Work Placements

Work Placement is a planned opportunity in a quality host workplace that enables students studying particular industry-based courses to practise and develop their industry competencies and their employability skills in a vibrant real work context, provide valuable work experience, assist them to develop their professional skills and allow them to apply some of their course knowledge in the workplace. Students gain skills in communication, teamwork, problem-solving, planning and organising, self-management, learning and technology.

Work Placement is a mandatory component of at least nine industry-based vocational education and training (VET) courses that students can choose as part of their studies.

Work Placement students can provide your business with fresh perspectives, new ideas and skilled team members who add immediate value to industry and your organisation.

Companies may benefit through:

• high-achieving students willing to undertake work and projects
• the flexibility to increase workloads
• a valuable and economical way of recruiting future employees.

Most importantly for the employer, students involved in an approved Work Placement are covered by MEGT Institute’s Insurance Policies whilst undertaking the placement.

Work Placement can be initiated by students or employers.
